Welcome to FAnGR Pakistan

Livestock is the mainstay of the socio-economic life of the people in Pakistan. It is the largest sub-sector of agriculture, contributing about 53% of the agriculture value added and sharing 12% of exports. Indigenous goats and poultry are very valuable parts of our farm animals. The Project's immediate objective is to develop and make available effective Decision Support Tools (DSTs) for the conservation and sustainable use of indigenous FAnGR and their wild relatives in developing countries. The UNEP-GEF are providing funds for conserving and sustainably use genetic diversity of indigenous livestock. Project is being run in four Asian countries including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and PAKISTAN. International livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is the executing agency of the project as a whole and UAF is responsible for its execution in PAKISTAN.
